ITINERARY IDEA

Day 1: Entebbe and Kampala

Meal Basis: Bed & Breakfast

The former seat of Uganda’s government, Entebbe just a short drive from the current capital and offers plenty to keep visitors amused. Tourists can while away days on the beaches along the banks of Lake Victoria, stroll around the fields and forests of the Botanical Gardens, or pay a visit to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a haven for country’s remaining chimps.

Day 2 - 4: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Meal Basis: Full Board plus Activities

The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is where you have the best chance of spotting a mountain gorilla family going about their business. Once you have your permit you are led across the rugged terrain and though the awe inspiring jungle to where the gorillas were seen yesterday and then you track them down. Aside from the amazing gorilla interactions there are numerous forest walks and 346 species of birds to track down, many of which are amazingly coloured.

This itinerary is a guideline, Africa & Beyond tailor every trip to your individual specifications including all accommodation, flights, transfers & activities, please contact us to discuss your ideas.

ABOUT UGANDA

Uganda is where the East African savannah meets the West African jungle. This incredibly lush country has open plains and rainforest, as well as channels teeming with hippo and towering mountains shrouded in mist. The country has a range of forest primates as impressive as its selection of plains antelope. And this biodiversity is further strengthened by Uganda's status as by far the smallest of the four African countries whose bird checklist tops the 1,000 mark.

WHERE TO GO AND WHEN

Uganda is sunny most of the year with temperatures rarely rising above 29 degrees

The rainy season is Mar-May. The light rain season is Nov - Dec. Dry seasons are Jan-Feb and Jun-Oct

WHAT TO DO

With varied habitat, Uganda has much to offer visitors. Traditional safaris on the plains of Queen Elizabeth and Kidepo National Parks, the latter being one of the remotest in Africa with just one camp

Uganda is a birdwatcher's paradise with over a 1000 recorded species with the Shoebill Stork seen frequently in Semuliki and Central African species also found here

Several protected areas have resident populations of chimpanzee along with other rare primates

Bwindi is home to roughly half the World's mountain gorilla and the only place where they co-exist with chimpanzee

Visit the source of the Nile, Murchinson Falls and part of Lake Victoria

Bush Lodge & Budoma Community Camp were particularly unique, beautiful settings we'll never forget!(Mr & Mrs C, Uganda)
