Destination: Tanzania

Day 1 - 2: Tarangire National Park

Meal Basis: Full Board plus Activities

After the Serengeti, Tarangire has the greatest concentration of wildlife in Tanzania and in the dry season the Tarangire River is a magnet for thirsty wildlife. Large herds of elephants and migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland gather and not surprisingly the predators follow. This is also the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as oryx and gerenuk are regularly spotted. Tarangire is also known for its spectacular baobab trees, and its breathtaking views of the Masaai Steppe and the mountains to the south.

Located just a few hours drive from the town of Arusha, Tarangire is a popular stop for safaris travelling through the northern circuit on their way to Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. The park extends into two game controlled areas and the wildlife are allowed to move freely throughout.

On the path of an annual elephant migration, Tarangire Treetops sits alone in a 312km2 private wildlife area bordering Tarangire National Park, amid a landscape of rolling and baobab-studded hills. Our elevated "treehouse" suites are perched high up with views over the adjacent baobab and marula trees, giving Tarangire Treetops an adventurous and exotic feel.

Twenty suites, each 65 sq metres with a private balcony, are lavishly furnished. Natural materials are blended with contemporary Africana décor, to provide guests with a unique and most memorable safari experience.

Day 3 - 4: Ngorongoro Crater

Meal Basis: Full Board plus Activities

Situated in the shadow of the Ngorongoro Crater the area around Karatu is perfect for exploring two of Tanzania’s gems, the Crater and Lake Manyara National Park.

The Manor at Ngorongoro, with its luxurious cottages and magnificent Manor House, brings "old-world" opulence to a green and lush setting. Think cigars and brandy, elegant fine dining, and post dinner snooker. The Manor is one of the most lavish properties to enjoy on an East African safari; the rooms are cottage suites within manicured gardens, and each suite has a sitting room, fireplace and enormous bathroom. There is nothing like returning from a day out on safari to a hot bubbly soak in your Victorian bathtub.

An luxurious sanctuary, The Manor has a full spa, an inviting swimming pool, and a stable of horses by which to explore the surrounding coffee plantations and countryside.

Day 5 - 7: Serengeti National Park

Meal Basis: Full Board plus Activities

The Serengeti together with Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Park form Africa’s most famous wildlife park. The image of acacia trees on an endless grass plain epitomises Africa for many, and then add a Masai warrior and some cattle to the picture and the conversation need go no further.

The annual wildebeest migration through the Serengeti and the Masai Mara is the largest mass movement of land mammals on the planet – with more than a million animals following the rains. But that is not where the game viewing ends; large prides of lions, elephants and giraffes in grasslands, gazelles and eland to mention but a few. Aside from traditional vehicle safaris, hot-air ballooning over the Serengeti plains has become almost essential and you can even do a horseback safari.

Located in the Southern Serengeti (within the Moru Kopjes area), Serengeti Pioneer Camp is ideally situated to offer superlative access to the annual migration and the ‘Big 5’ with sweeping views overlooking Moru Kopjes, Lake Magadi and the endless plains.

Comprising of twelve tented accommodations, all of which have ensuite facilities including a flushing toilet, vanity basin, and showers, the tent interiors are designed to evoke the very best of an era long-gone but certainly not forgotten.

A dining tent hosts the Camp’s guests for both breakfast and dinner, whilst luncheons are taken either in the camp or in the bush during what will no doubt be yet another enthralling day in the Serengeti.
