Livingstone

DESCRIPTION

Named after the famous Victorian missionary explorer, Dr. David Livingstone, the Town was established in 1905. As a major European settlement, the town was made the capital of Northern Rhodesia in 1911. As the capital, it enjoyed excellent facilities far superior to anything in the country, as can be seen from the surviving Edwardian colonial buildings that line the city's main road, and even had the distinction of having the country's first newspaper. The proximity to the Zambezi River and the spectacular Victoria Falls has led it to become a base for travellers from all over the world wanting to explore this Seventh wonder of the World.

ITINERARY IDEA

Day 1 - 5: Livingstone

Meal Basis: Full Board plus Activities

One of the original natural wonders of the world, the Victoria Falls is a World Heritage Site and an extremely popular tourism attraction. Known locally as ‘The Smoke that Thunders’ this spectacle is accessible from both Zambia and Zimbabwe and it is an ideal place to combine game viewing and water sports. There is excellent fishing, a terrifying bungee jump and arguably the best commercial white water rafting in the world.

The River Club is a charming oasis on the Zambezi River, situated 18 kilometres upstream from the renowned Victoria Falls in Livingstone, Zambia - a World Heritage Site and one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World.

All 11 suites overlook the river and pods of hippo into the Zambezi National Park. A host of activities await young and old, on property as well as around the Falls. The River Club is a fantastic destination for families with children 6 and up, providing spacious family accommodation and extensive gardens to explore.

The River Club has an island, in front of the lodge, that makes an exotic setting for wedding ceremonies (subject to water levels, likely not available during the months of March to May).

The River Club is an oasis of tranquillity and the ideal setting for that special occasion, providing an exotic location for intimate affairs of only 30 guests, or larger celebrations of up to 100 guests.

Its location away from the hubbub of noise around the Victoria Falls, especially from helicopters and micro-lights, ensures that as a wedding destination it provides complete tranquillity without interruption - Edwardian elegance in an African bush setting!

As a private lodge, exclusivity to our guests is guaranteed. The lodge caters for weddings for a couple just wanting to keep their ceremony a quiet one, to bigger family affairs. We are able to provide for both religious and civil services.
